Every year color authority, Pantone, picks the reigning color for the upcoming year. This color then dictates home decor, fashion and beauty for the rest of the year. This year Pantone threw us a curveball by revealing two colors, Serenity and Rose Quartz, as the “it” colors for 2016. The best part about the pair? The duo work so well together that one can easily transition to the next with the ease of Sleeping Beauty’s ballroom gown. These soothing shades pair perfectly in home decor, fashion and wedding style. How will you be using Serenity and Rose Quartz this year? Do you prefer one over the other? Let us know in the comments!
Pantone’s picks for spring included an aquatic blue that we can’t wait to see this season! From fashion to home decor, this hue is sure to make wave with the design-savvy.
We can’t be sure where the name “scuba blue” came from, but we imagine it was inspired by the intense greenish-blue of the ocean that only lucky divers get to see in person.
Not only is it a magnificent color for home decor, scuba blue is also the perfect color to wear at any formal event to really wow a crowd. Pick up a scuba blue gown for prom, and use our rhinestone trim to add a shimmering embellishment.
Pantone has spoken, and the color of the year is a far cry from last year’s Radiant Orchid! This year’s winning shade is described as “a naturally robust and earthy wine red color”, and has a fitting name to boot: Marsala. This beautiful color is a cross between a cool burgundy and a warm terracotta. We can’t wait to see how designers and decorators use this color in the coming year!
We love this color paired with a light blue for an unexpected contrast.
A perfect color to use in your winter wedding palette, this rich red screams to be seen against a snowscape.
With all of the hype around Pantone’s Color of the Year, Radiant Orchid, you’d think that would be the only color on everyone’s minds. Not so! Pantone recently released the spring color trends for 2014, and Celosia Orange was a popular choice that we’re seeing all over the runways in inside the most fashionable homes.
The name comes from the vibrant celosia flower. This beautiful bloom comes in a range of bright colors and has a slightly fuzzy texture.
This bold color is a popular choice for home decor too! It adds personality to any room, especially if placed against a neutral background. Need a color palette that never fails to impress? Try pairing Celosia Orange with teal or cornflower blue. These contrasting colors are a decor match made in heaven!

Pantone has picked its color of the year, and this time around the award goes to Radiant Orchid! This pink-purple hue is going to be all the rage this year, and we have a feeling you’ll see it on everything from fashion to kitchen appliances. If you’re itching to include the latest color of the year in YOUR life, you’re in luck because we have plenty of trim, ribbons and notions in this eye-popping shade.
These pleated and beaded trims are great for adding a vibrant touch to home decor. They would look great on a pillow, or a fun and funky apron!
This long fringe is perfect for home decor, but it can also be used to make a killer flapper skirt or dress!
We have satin ribbon in almost every color because it’s such a versatile style! Use it as a sash on a dress, a bow on a present or a beautiful hair tie.
Swarovski crystals come in a wide range of colors, and we’re proud to have a wide selection! These pinks, reds and purples are great for adding a splash of sparkle to your attire.
Now that the wait is over and we know what color we’ll be seeing everywhere for the next year, how are you going to incorporate it into YOUR style?
In years past, Fashion Week was solely intended to showcase a designer’s collection. Now it has become a who’s who, and who’s wearing what in the fashion world. With the rise of social media outlets fashion week revolves around much more than the designers. Those attending shows now dress to impress ( fashion photographers that is) We at M&J can not handle how great some of the fashion selections have been. The D.I.Y options are endless; we’re already stocking up on fur, feathers, rhinestones and studs. Emerald has been ruling the runways therefore it is only necessary to incorporate the “it color” into our lifestyles. Many bloggers have been creating emerald infused pieces and we’ve rounded up 5 that we particularly love. The following D.I.Y’s will make everyone around you green with envy.
