This week we’re highlighting a color that screams summer to us! One you’ll find in your brightly colored fruit smoothies, the toes of bikini-clad beach-goers, and dappled on the skin of your summer peaches. We’re talking about coral, a color inspired by the vibrant reef!
A bright color like this is perfect for celebrations, making it a go-to for wedding and party planners.
The lace overlay lends a little demure mystery to a bold coral dress! It’s the perfect color for the warm summer months.
This vibrant shade is great for adding personality to your home decor. It looks fantastic when paired with blues and green, just like it does in the ocean!
The nights are bright and light, the weather is warm and the kids are out of school. Summer is one of our favorite seasons because it’s the perfect time of year to get together with friends and family, and enjoy the good weather. So why not throw a summer party to celebrate the season? These photos are all the convincing you need.

We’ve been going nuts over knots the last few days, and we’ve finally decided to do something about it! We wanted a nautical-inspired accessory that could add a little class to any outfit, while also looking casual and simple. We created a knotted necklace using twist cord and tape in red and navy, but you can customize the materials to make this knotted necklace in whatever colors and styles you like!
What You’ll Need:
3/16” Rayon Twist Cord (keep the ends secured with tape to prevent fraying)
1/4” Heavy Apron Tape
1. Using two sets of two cords, create the knot above by following the arrows above.
2. Measure to make sure the necklace is your desired length, and cut off any excess.
3. As you cut, add glue and apron tape to the ends. Cut and glue each end one by one to prevent fraying.
4. Add E6000 to the inside of the end cap, and insert the cord tip into the end cap.
5. Attach jump rings to each end cap, one jump ring for two cords.
6. Add a lobster clasp to one end of the necklace.
Sometimes the best way to accent a pair of shorts is to add an accessory to the mix! It’s also a great way to keep your favorite pair intact while also adding some interest. The best shorts accessory in our opinion is a funky belt! We used a leather and cotton braid with a pronged buckle to create a gorgeous (and easy) belt. No need to mess with leather hole punchers when working with braided trim! What You’ll Need:
Colored Jean Shorts
2 1/8” Rounded Square Metal Buckle
Needle and Thread
1. Punch the prong of the buckle through the center braided trim about 2 inches deep.
2. Fold over the extra 2 inches, and glue and sew in place.
3. Add some glue to the tip of the other end of the leather so it does not fray. Let dry.

Sunglasses – Keep your peepers safe with sunglasses! If basic shades aren’t your style, check out some sunglasses DIYs!
Hat – When it comes to hats, we prefer the floppy, straw variety. But as long as it’s keeping your head cool and face shaded, any hat will do.
Coverup – We love a loose and airy coverup for the beach. Its easy to slip off when you want some sun, and slip on when the wind picks up.
