Chain mail, bold details, mixed metals, and an overall tough-girl feel are the elements which inspired us to center Project DIY’s November collection around the famous fighter, Joan of Arc. If you haven’t seen the Project DIY Joan of Arc collection featuring this famed heroine, take a look!
Although Joan of Arc led thousands of men into battle, we can’t forget that she was still a teenage girl. We wanted to mix the strong and powerful elements of a warrior, with some more delicate and feminine pieces.
We loved the look of heavy metal armor and the idea of mixing metals. You’ll see a lot of different metallic elements which work really well together throughout this collection .
Chain mail was another element we really wanted to incorporate into the Joan of Arc collection because it was such an important stylistic feature of the times. To get a similar look and feel we added a layered chain to the statement necklace project.
Although she was a heroine of the past, Joan of Arc’s story and style have endured through the ages because of their ground-breaking ability to completely disregard the status quo. We hope that by creating the pieces in the Project DIY Joan of Arc collection you can take a little bit of Joan’s spirit with you wherever you go!
On Tuesday we’re creating a DIY that’s a little bit dark and daring, and it uses one of our FAVORITE DIY materials: spikes! We love the look of spiked and studded clothing because it adds a little bit of edge to an otherwise demure outfit. Here are some of out favorite DIYs using spikes and studs!
The use of a colorful t-shirt for the bracelet base makes this piece look fun and funky! We also really like that leather band bracelet. That could be another awesome DIY!
Guys love spikes too! A month ago we upgraded a winter vest using spikes and studs from the store. Be sure to check it out if you want to add some hardware to your wardrobe.
Honestly WTF embraced their rebellious side, and turned these precious pastel Vans into some studly shoes! It’s amazing how studs can make something so innocent look totally killer.
Just because you’re wearing camo doesn’t mean you’ll be blending in! Check out our Camo Print Spike Headband DIY to make this look!
Not all spikes are made equal. The “spikes” used in this P.S. I Made This DIY are more like stakes that have been painted gold. They’re the perfect addition to take your trench from tired to bold!
Have you created crafts with spikes before? If you found it difficult to pierce the fabric with conventional scissors, we suggest using a leather hole punch! We would love to see YOUR spiked DIYs. Show us whatcha got!
We truly stepped up our game with our latest 4 ways feature. Regardless of your style we’ve found something for everyone. We hope you’re as pumped as we are! Check back tomorrow for our first project!
When looking for upcoming trends we are often inspired by our surroundings.Being located in New York City, we find there is always an abundance of style around us. One trend that has been making its way to the east coast post-Coachella is definitely the global influenced/boho trend. The vibrant colors, mixed mediums and over-the-top detail associated with many of these products completely satisfies our creative juices. We’ve rounded up some of our top bohemian-influenced pieces that you can recreate using M&J trims just in time for Bonnaroo or everyday use.

Furniture shopping has evolved in recent years. The time where selecting a black, brown or tan couch is long behind us. Now home owners are truly looking to personalize their space. Studs are gender neutral giving off both feminine and masculine traits. Studs are edgy without being too over the top. Since studs coordinate with many colors the possibilities are endless. Here are a few of our favorite studded home accents.

Each year there is an it-bag. This coveted item is desired by everyone but owned by a select few. This past year everyone had been crazed over the Alexander McQueen Skull bag. Upon adding our Skull Nailheads to our e-commerce site, we realized how simple this DIY would be. Check out our Alexander McQueen Inspired DIY tutorial below.
12MM x 8MM IRON-ON SKULL NAILHEADS

Using your REVOLVING LEATHER HOLE PUNCH, poke a hole on either side of the wallet.
Pull your 4MM METAL CHAIN through the hole you had just created
Open the 4MM METAL CHAIN a little bit, create a loop, and then secure the chain shut
