NYFW: Oscar de la Renta

Oscar did it again. We’re blown away by his Spring 2014 Collection! Each piece that graced the runway reminded you of the warm spring air and hot summer nights that seem so far away now. In my opinion Oscar always chooses the perfect colors; this collection featured gorgeous shades of blue, pink, coral, white and black. There was also a play on patterns from textured crochet lace, to metallic floral embroidery. This collection is perfect for the classy and chic woman who enjoys modern style and sexy silhouettes. We cannot wait to see which celebrities rock these looks on the red carpet.

Floral Sweater D.I.Y

Upon seeing Oscar De La Renta’s Spring 2013 collection, we were in awe.  The floral embellishments had been kicked into high gear leaving us with waves of excitement. Clearly we were left with no choice but to recreate an affordable but just as fabulous piece using M&J products.

Floral Runway Inspiration

Floral Prints have been a key feature on the runway. The nature infused trend has been revamped in a major way. Designers have been using various mediums such as fur, lace, beads, fabric  and appliques to incorporate these patterns. Below are some of our favorite floral runway pieces that give us the urge to create some of our very own pieces.

Highlights From Pre-Fall 2011 Collections!

By Blerona

2011  Pre-Fall Collections were all about couture, warmth, class, glitz and glamor! Finally beautiful knee length dresses that you won’t have to second guess as too short. Warm fur jackets and vests from Donna Karen, J. Mendel, and Burberry Prosum. Beautiful tailored pants from well known designers  such as Thaakoon and Jason Wu, perfect for business and pleasure. But the all times favorites for 2011 Pre-Fall/Autumn Collections had to be the beaded, embellished and glamorous dresses perfect for the red carpet, How jealous I am of the celebrities that will wear these designs.

2011 Resort Collections

6

By Blerona

Max Azria’s collection was inspired by images from Africa, this travel-themed resort collection feels fresh with colorful batik printed caftans and billowy silk dresses. More colors included a rainbow of greens, neutral separates, and a series of white cotton shirts and tank dresses. Carolina Herrera’s collection was very light. The theme of the collection is very feminine and romantic, with many vibrant colors the collection is made for everyday in any part of the world. Diane Von Furstenberg’s collection was a very sexy beachy look. The collections had forties-style rompers with matching visors and totes, cinched wrap dresses over bathing suits; many graphic stripes, polka-dot prints, and tropical colors. Oscar de la Renta’s fashion show was one for the books. Especially since he streamed it live on Facebook. His collection included embellished jackets, skirts and dresses. With many different prints and vibrant colors this collection is perfect for that getaway we’ve been dying for.

Details from the Resort 2010 Collection

Many times, small details are the ones that give life and personality to a garment. Too often, we overlook these details and don’t realize how embellishments can make a piece look beautiful.

To demonstrate this, I picked 7 looks from the Resort 2010 collection. They have different kind of embellishments and they all work perfectly. Notice how without the embellishments, they wouldn’t look the same or they would probably look dull. Most of them utilize sequins plus a different element such as beads, crystals or mirrors.  Others, like the look from Zac Posen, use beautiful buttons and ribbon. You can also make any piece you already own special, just find the right embellishments and have fun being creative with them.
