Milan Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2014

2

Milan Fashion Week may be over, but we’re not done drooling over the looks we saw just yet! Italy has some of the most stunning and unapologetic style, so we knew this week was going to be pretty epic. Some of our favorites are listed below!

Moschino Fall Winter 2014

Moschino is no stranger to pushing the envelope. This season Jeremy Scott pulled in some iconic characters and brands in both media and food for his show. Spongebob, McDonald’s and Froot Loops all made an appearance at this show; and while we may not be brave enough to wear these come next winter, we appreciate the ingenuity.

Prada Fall Winter 2014

Prada was on on fire with it’s saturated color palette, smart geometric shapes, and shearling accents. The shapes were strong, masculine and boxy, with colorful shearling to help take the edge off of some of the powerful pieces.

Pucci Fall Winter 2014

Of course the styles at Pucci featured some unforgettable patterns, their signature aesthetic, but we were really drawn in by the exquisite draping. The looks were very wearable, and would look fantastic on a fiercely confident woman.

Missoni Fall Winter 2014

The styles at Missoni were, dare we say, cozy? The abstract geometric prints in subdued shades, and the basic collared henleys made for a practical and wearable collection. Plus their sweaters looked so warm and welcoming, even with their modern design. They would have made the perfect addition to this year’s winter wardrobe!

Marni Fall Winter 2014

The Marni show might not have been your cup of fashion tea with it’s obtuse silhouettes and mixed bag of prints, but if you can rock it, why not? Each piece was more a work of architectural art, than wearable fashion and that’s totally fine with us. We loved the bold use of fur, shape and feathers this time around, and we can’t wait to see how style bloggers embrace these looks next year.

Which looks did you love this year? Whose collections do you keep coming back to? Let us know!

Milan Fashion Week SS2014 Roundup

3

Milan Fashion Week is drawing to a close, and while we’re excited for Paris Fashion Week, we are a little sad to see it end. There’s a cool confidence in Italian fashion that you can’t find anywhere else, and this week provided perfect examples of that effortless persona.  Here are a few of our favorite looks from the Italian runways for Spring and Summer 2014.

Emporio Armani SS2014

Fashion house, Emporio Armani, opted for a light, cool-toned palette for SS2014. The shapes were streamlined, yet soft, and the muted pastels were chic alternatives to the Easter Sunday dresses some of us grew up with as kids. Gone are the days of bold baby blues! (At least for now.)

Fausto Puglisi SS2014

Contrast is the word that comes to mind when discussing the Fausto Puglisi show. Bold, voluminous skirts were paired with edgy biker jackets. This look is definitely reminiscent of an 80s LA rocker. AC/DC anyone?

Prada SS2014

At M&J we love embellishments and details, which is why we think Prada is after our own hearts! Bold colors, dramatic sequins, and artistic prints were seen all over the runway. It makes us want to skip through fall and winter altogether!

MAXMARA SS2014

We would love to “slip” into something more comfortable, like one of MAXMARA’s designs. The beautiful neutral palette and simple shapes of the coats and dresses made MAXMARA a standout this year. Sometimes it’s the little things, you know?

Moschino

Are you a saint or a sinner? At the Moschino show, they had a style for you no matter your moral affiliation! Model duos came out with contrasting looks; some for the bold and brash, others for the demure. We loved the juxtaposition, and thought this was definitely one of the most entertaining shows of the week.

Jil Sander SS2014

At Jil Sander, minimalism never goes out of style. Their looks were feminine, wearable, with strong silhouettes throughout. Although we love bright details, sometimes simple is so chic.

Pucci 2014

Pucci is the powerhouse of patterns, and SS2014 proved to be no different for the Italian  favorite. We loved the bright mixed patterns, and the attention grabbing belts used to tie the looks together. Made famous for their bold and graphic prints, this year they decided to go a little tribal. We can’t wait to see this look in NYC’s urban jungle this spring!

We would love to hear what your favorite looks were at Milan Fashion Week! Did any of them really stand out to you? Were you surprised by any of the shows? Sound off on our Facebook page, or leave a comment below!

Paris & Milan Fashion Week 2012 Highlights

By Blerona

It looks like Lace is still appearing all over the runway and I’m can’t say that I’m mad about that! Besides beautiful metalic and sheer lace, the runway this year is bringing back the bling with shiny details of crystals, rhinestones, nailheads and beaded embellishments. As well as feathers, my favorite! Here are the highlights of Paris and Milan Fashion Week 2012.
