With the season’s heat and humidity, a hair elastic is an absolute summer staple. Since they are never far from my wrists, I’m going to use them to add a pretty bit of color. It’s easy to make your own colorful hair ties with only a pair of sharp scissors and a yard of fold over elastic. (I used 5/8″ fold over elastic, which you can get by calling the store.)
Cut a piece of fold over elastic about 9 inches long.
Tie the ends in a simple knot.
Trim the ends at a 45 degree angle. To keep ends from fraying, use fray check or gently fuse with a lighter.
As simple as they are to make, you can make a whole rainbow!
