It’s Lady Gaga meets Gossip Girl!
Bow headpieces are a big hit this year. And we’ve seen many different variations of it on Lady Gaga, and Gossip Girl. We’ve seen striped bows, hair made bows, lace bows, oversized bows to small bows, but so far I haven’t seen any sequin bows headbands. So I decided to make one, these totally chic bows take 5 minutes to make and look great on a hair clip or a headband. And did I mention there perfect for the Spring and Summer!
Stretchable Sequin Bow Tie
- Step one– Fold the cut Stretch Sequin in half and sew each ends together.
- Step two– With the sewn sequin facing vertically in the middle, pinch the center and sew the sequins in place.
- Step three– With the center sewn, take your needle and thread put the needle thru the middle of the sewn center horizontally, pull from the back of the bow then repeat. (This will create the back of the center bow and front to stick together.)
- Step four– Hot glue to a headband or hairclip
Tips* Add a funky button, ribbon or chain around the center for a more finished look. I prefer a plain headband with a little bit of glam, but dress it up to fit your own personal style.
Chain and Pendant Necklace
Spring is almost here, and I’m ready for that sun to shine! Next season is all about piling on your mega-big iconic shaped pendants. Designers like Michele Scholnick, Lanvin, Baleciaga and Max Mara are all embracing this look into their collection. To get a head start, learn how to make this simple and beautiful gold chain necklace with two rare and unique pendants. In just 3 Easy Steps!
I got my inspiration from Gossip Girl, I just love the way they dress always very classy, and glamorous. I can definitely picture Serena wearing this with one of her many fabulous outfits!
- Attach one pendant to one end of the chain.
- Attach second pendant to the other end of the chain
- Make a knot on desired location

For this headband, I used a large plastic headband that I got from a local discount store. With a 2″ wide satin ribbon, I simply covered the headband using unique stitch glue. After that dried, I glued a beaded appliqué onto the side. Then Tada! It’s really that simple.
Our next headband workshop will be on March 8th, 2009. If you’re interested, please call 1-800-9-MJTRIM ext 377 to sign-up. We look forward to seeing you there.

In Gossip Girl’s “Summer, Kind of WOnderful” episode for the second season, Serena van der Woodsen wore a silver ribbon as a headband to the white party. One option to get this look is by using a metallic silver mesh ribbon. I used about 5 yards and just wrapped multiple layers and then tied a knot in the back. You can call 1.800.9.MJTRIM and ask for item number 36876. It comes in 18 different colors. I used the size 6mm in white.
It’s Gossip Girl time again! Last time I showed you how to recreate the red and white striped headband that Blair Waldorf wore in the episode “All About My Brother”. This time, I recreated the headband she wore in the episode “Women on The Verge”. I used 50mm Double Face Silk Ribbon in silver and a Rhinestone Appliqué. To make it, you can view the instructions in my previous Gossip Girl Blog . They are very easy to follow.
Gossip Girl’s Season Premiere is on Monday, September 1 8/7c, so let’s get ready for more drama and lots of accessories!
