New York Fashion Week Fall Winter 2014 Street Style Inspiration

1

When it comes to Fashion Week, the hottest styles aren’t just on the runways. Style icons strut the streets of Lincoln Center on their way to see the latest collections wearing some of the best outfits. Lucky for us, the snow didn’t stop these trendsetters from making their way out this year! Here were some of our favorite looks from NYFW Fall/Winter 2014!Susie Bubble in Blue Coat

Rachel Effendy with Purple Stole

We saw a lot of fur at Fashion Week, colored fur. Fashionistas donned fur stoles and coats in bold and brash hues for a fashion punch. If you want to test out this popular trend without having to buy a super expensive statement piece, make a hat with our pom poms that come in fantastic colors!

Models in Black and White

Off duty models kept it cool and casual with neutral ensembles. Judging from the blue hair streaks and dramatic winged liner, their looks on the runway were the opposite of their outfits.

Moschino Jacket

This jacket from Moschino paired with the athletic knee-socks adds a playful touch to the gloomy winter.

Marijera Hamasaki and Hiroshi Hamasaki in White Ensemble

Wearing winter white was another common thread that we loved seeing. It’s so clean and fresh! Just be careful when crossing the street because you might blend in with a snowstorm. Seriously, this winter has been crazy.

What were some of your favorite looks in New York this season? What do you think comes first, the street style or the designer fashion? We would love to hear your answers below!

Floral Runway Inspiration

Floral Prints have been a key feature on the runway. The nature infused trend has been revamped in a major way. Designers have been using various mediums such as fur, lace, beads, fabric  and appliques to incorporate these patterns. Below are some of our favorite floral runway pieces that give us the urge to create some of our very own pieces.

Emerald Street Style

2

In years past, Fashion Week was solely intended to showcase a designer’s collection. Now it has become a who’s who, and who’s wearing what in the fashion world. With the rise of social media outlets fashion week revolves around much more than the designers. Those attending shows now dress to impress ( fashion photographers that is) We at M&J can not handle how great some of the fashion selections have been. The D.I.Y options are endless; we’re already stocking up on fur, feathers, rhinestones and studs. Here is a recap of our favorite emerald green street style recaps from New York, Paris, and Milan Fashion Week.

Inspirational Handbag Embellishments!

By Blerona

The Handbag Collective Pop-Up on Friday, August 19th was a spectacular event. M&J Trimming was excited to be part of the seminar, educating new designers on how to create their best handbag with M&J Trimmings. And for those who couldn’t make it, I thought I would  send some inspiration your way!

When you think of handbag trimming’s what comes to mind-  D-Rings, handleschains and buckles? Take a closer look. Trimming on handbags are everywhere, they are the little details that make the bag beautiful and unique. The feathers, fur, nailheads, leather detailtrinkets and pendants. The unique buckles, hidden snaps, metal, shell, and novelty buttons, zippers, pop-pom and Leather Fringe, and some Swarovski sew-ons of course; truth is I could go on forever. Depending on the designer you never know what kind of trim you will find. Take a peek at your own bags to see what I mean!

Here are some inspiration photos of displays we had the Handbag Collective Pop-Up!
