London Fashion Week Fall 2015

London Fashion Week just wrapped, and there’s something special about the designers that show across the pond. There’s an effortless coolness to the style there, and we can’t help but covet the pieces we saw. christopher-kane-tait-rtw-fw15-runway-33

christopher-kane-tait-rtw-fw15-runway-04Christopher Kane creating an unabashedly sensual collection for Fall 2015. From the overt embroidered dresses to the more subtle uses of striking color in unexpected places, this collection was daring indeed.

burberry-prorsum-rtw-fw15-runway-16Burberry Prorsum’s Fall offering channeled the bohemian 1970s with ample use of suede, fringe, and florals.

Peter-Pilotto-rtw-fw15-runway-33The designs at Peter Pilotto were inspired by an unlikely source: board games. Each element of the board game, from the playing path to the pieces, were captured in the garments.

topshop_unique_rtw_lfw_fall47Topshop Unique’s collection this season featured pieces were cool, casual, and, most notably, easily wearable. A sweet dandelion printed blouse could be paired with a colored leather mini for a look that can be worn effortlessly by style stars and the rest of the fashionable population.

emilia-wickstead-rtw-fw15-runway-162At the Emilia Wickstead show the looks didn’t steer too far away from what the designer is famous for: elegant design with modest yet modern cuts. We’re sure to see the British elite wearing the soft pastel pieces from Emilia Wickstead this fall.

j-w-anderson-rtw-fw15-runway-low-res-06According to J.W. Anderson, the 1980s are the next big thing. Bold circular belt buckles, slouched boots in bright colors and ruffled outerwear made waves in a 1970s dominated seaon.

Trend Alert: Mad About Mod

This fall we’re falling back into the swinging 60s with short a-line dresses, knee-high boots, and bold graphic prints. Fashion always has a way of reverting on itself, and reinventing the old in a new way. This coming season we’ll be seeing classic mod styles with “modern” additions. Think more metallics, sparkling embellishments, and a diverse color palettes.

gucci-fall-winter-2014-show34Gucci knows how to modernize the trend with leather in an unexpected powder blue and go-go boots.

dsquared2-fall-winter-2014-show30DSquared2 has it down pat with a slinky blush mini and hair that’s as high as the heavens.

Mod-SquadLouis Vuitton stayed classic with ’60s silhouettes in neutral colors. This style is super wearable and glamorous all at once!

Mod-Squad (1)

We love the bright mustard of this Carven two-piece ensemble. And when it comes to boots, it’s go tall or go home.

Paris Street Style

The French are always lauded for their effortless style. Whether it’s their bare-faced beauty or their impeccable ability to layer, they have their fashion game down. Did they bring it to Fall/Winter Fashion Week in Paris this week? We’ll let you be the judge.
Tapestry Coat

Floral Coat and Dress

Flower Print Coat

Floral coats and jackets were so in! Nothing like some beautiful blooms to brighten a drab winter day.

Butterfly Back Sweater

We may not be able to grow wings, but we can fake it with a cool sweater like this!

Orange and Blue Heeled Shoes

These shoes have such a unique heel, and the color combination is so fun!

White Pleated Skirt at PFW
That pleated white skirt is so on trend, and offers unexpected lightness to a cold-weather outfit.

Paris Street Style Anna Dello Russo
Well obviously Anna Dello Russo isn’t going to ascribe to the less-is-more rule, but she doesn’t have to. If your motto is “Be Bold”, she is your style icon.

Paris Street Style Floral Scarf

We love this simple look with the signature French stripes! The added accessories make it even more stylish.

Paris Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2014

Fashion Month is over for this season! That means that all of those gorgeous models can relax, and maybe have a foot soak after all of their runway walking, and designers can a breath a sigh of relief for, like, a minute. Here are some of our favorites from the last week of Fashion Month, Paris Fashion Week !

Chanel Fall/Winter Fashion Week 2014

The Chanel show was probably one of the most talked-about this week! The supermarket setup was unique and the pieces were injected with some fun color during a notoriously desaturated time of year.

Louis Vuitton Fall/Winter 2014 Collection

The looks at Louis Vuitton were slick and modern. With the whimsy and fun of spring over, it’s time to get real and warm. We loved the sleek lines of the collection, and those navy leather pants are on our WANT list until next winter.

Hermes Fall/Winter 2014 Collection

The styles at Hermes played on the menswear-vibe with over-sized coats and baggy pants. We loved the use of leather too.

Miu Miu Fall/Winter 2014 Collection

Sometimes it’s hard to integrate runway pieces into your everyday wardrobe, even if they are from the RTW lines. Not so with Miu Miu’s offering for Fall Winter 2014! From hooded jackets to adorable quilted skirts, we can’t wait to wear these styles!

Alexander McQueen FallWinter 2014

The Alexander McQueen show took our breath away. The looks were reminiscent of an old Grimm brothers fairy tale: dreamy, dangerous, and dark.

Which collections had your vote this week? What about this month? Let us know!

Serious Style Statement Inspiration

With Mercedes Benz Fashion Week coming up, we can’t help but look for inspiring pieces to wear to all of the shows! This year we really want to make a statement with our outfits, so we’re using accessories to create unforgettable looks. See which styles are sparking our imaginations, and you may just see our versions of these cool trends in an upcoming series!

Wrap Bracelets

Blue Rhinestone Wrap BraceletDruzy Leather Wrap Bracelets, Cluster Bracelets and Watch

We love a good wrap bracelet because it’s casual, fun and still totally chic! This year we’re really feeling the wrap bracelet upgrade, which pairs the boho chic style with some glamorous stones.

Statement Earrings

Elizabeth Cole Drop EarringsStatement Stone EarringsIsabella Drops

Right now we are on board the drop earring train. This style is bold and shining with enough sparkle to stop anyone in their tracks! Feather Collar

Neutral Feather Collar, Feather Necklace over Collar, Green Feather Necklace

There is something so cool yet simple about a feather collar. It’s an unexpected change from the usual fur, and it has a light airy feeling to it that is so unique! Don’t pass up on this trend, or it will fly away! Shoulder Pads

Stud Shoulder Pads, Statement Sequin Shoulders, Gold Statement Sequin Shoulder Pads

Statement shoulders are definitely in right now! From red carpet runway gowns, to edgy street fashion, these stylized shoulder accents are taking the fashion world by storm. And why not? They make a cool, confident and stylish statement!

Paris Fashion Week SS2014 Roundup

Anyone can spot a French girl from a kilometer away. She looks put together without trying. She is effortlessly chic. She’s a master at layering, and her style exudes romance. You might think that sweet sentiment was embraced during Paris Fashion Week SS2014. Well you would stand corrected because this year the power players played with power as a theme.

Louis Vuitton Paris Fashion Week SS2014

Those dark headdresses at Louis Vuitton made the models look showgirl-chic. The feathers, the embellishments, and the attention paid to the tiniest decorative detail really show how skilled this fashion house is at its craft.

Valentino Paris Fashion Week SS2014

While we may never be royals, we can always pretend with Valentino’s collection. It featured heavy embroidery, and silhouettes worthy of a queen. We loved that the looks were paired with simple, flat Grecian sandals. Who says queens need to be subjected to the hazards of heels?

Chanel Paris Fashion Week SS2014 Pink Tweed Jacket

Coco Chanel once said, “The most courageous act is still to think for yourself. Aloud.” We think someone was definitely thinking aloud when creating this collection! Chanel’s classic looks were taken to bold extremes: huge pearls, saturated tweed suits, and extreme neon makeup.

Givenchy Paris Fashion Week SS2014 Brown Rhinestone Dress

Givenchy mixed Japanese and African influences for this collection. Some of the models donned crystal-covered kabuki “masks”, which were both sparkly AND a little intimidating. We wonder if they used Swarovski crystals, preferably not hot fix! Ouch!

The Rick Owens show really blew us away. Remember that ethereal Parisian we were talking about earlier? Yeah, this show wasn’t for her. Step dancers took the stage in lieu of models, and powered through an energetic dance number. Watch the video above, and join us in collective awe.

Milan Fashion Week SS2014 Roundup

Milan Fashion Week is drawing to a close, and while we’re excited for Paris Fashion Week, we are a little sad to see it end. There’s a cool confidence in Italian fashion that you can’t find anywhere else, and this week provided perfect examples of that effortless persona.  Here are a few of our favorite looks from the Italian runways for Spring and Summer 2014.

Emporio Armani SS2014

Fashion house, Emporio Armani, opted for a light, cool-toned palette for SS2014. The shapes were streamlined, yet soft, and the muted pastels were chic alternatives to the Easter Sunday dresses some of us grew up with as kids. Gone are the days of bold baby blues! (At least for now.)

Fausto Puglisi SS2014

Contrast is the word that comes to mind when discussing the Fausto Puglisi show. Bold, voluminous skirts were paired with edgy biker jackets. This look is definitely reminiscent of an 80s LA rocker. AC/DC anyone?

Prada SS2014

At M&J we love embellishments and details, which is why we think Prada is after our own hearts! Bold colors, dramatic sequins, and artistic prints were seen all over the runway. It makes us want to skip through fall and winter altogether!

We would love to “slip” into something more comfortable, like one of MAXMARA’s designs. The beautiful neutral palette and simple shapes of the coats and dresses made MAXMARA a standout this year. Sometimes it’s the little things, you know?

Are you a saint or a sinner? At the Moschino show, they had a style for you no matter your moral affiliation! Model duos came out with contrasting looks; some for the bold and brash, others for the demure. We loved the juxtaposition, and thought this was definitely one of the most entertaining shows of the week.

Jil Sander SS2014

At Jil Sander, minimalism never goes out of style. Their looks were feminine, wearable, with strong silhouettes throughout. Although we love bright details, sometimes simple is so chic.

Pucci 2014

Pucci is the powerhouse of patterns, and SS2014 proved to be no different for the Italian  favorite. We loved the bright mixed patterns, and the attention grabbing belts used to tie the looks together. Made famous for their bold and graphic prints, this year they decided to go a little tribal. We can’t wait to see this look in NYC’s urban jungle this spring!

We would love to hear what your favorite looks were at Milan Fashion Week! Did any of them really stand out to you? Were you surprised by any of the shows? Sound off on our Facebook page, or leave a comment below!
