Christmas just passed, but if you have a Project DIY subscription it feels like Christmas comes every month! It seems like word has gotten around about the most creative gift of the holiday season because we’ve seen Project DIY popping up everywhere!
ELLE.com featured Project DIY in their “The Best Gifts That Keep on Giving” article, and suggested it as the gift ‘For the DIY Queen’! Also on the list was Birchbox, the subscription service which delivers beauty samples to your door; Mantry, a subscription box for the manly epicurean; and many other great gift ideas!
Parade.com called the style inspiration for our Joan of Arc Collection “Game of Thrones meets Kate Middleton”. Being compared to a style icon like the Duchess of Cambridge is never a bad thing in our book!
MizzFIT.com founder, Bianca Jade, mentioned Project DIY as the perfect gift for the Fashionista in your life in her segment on CBS’s Live from the Couch!
About.com‘s Rain Blanken reviewed our Joan of Arc collection, calling it inspirational! We loved how she used a watch face she had in her collection to customize the Warrior Cuff.
OKMagazine.com suggested Project DIY in their “Best Gifts for the Ultimate Fashionista” feature! We loved their idea to have a craft party with your most fashion-savvy girlfriends. Sounds like a fun night in to us!
If a Project DIY subscription didn’t make into your Christmas stocking this year, don’t worry. You can always order the latest collection from MJProjectDIY.com, and it will come right to your door! Looking for a past collection, like November’s Joan of Arc? You can find it at MJTrim.com.
We love looking at street style photographs for DIY inspiration. M&J’s Garment District location allows us to see many creative individuals on a daily basis. Although many people working in and around the garment district may not be renowned designers they are often the inspiration for many runway designs. Fashion styling is always open for interpretation. We love looking at street style for inspiration.
Few films have had such a powerful impact on fashion in the way that the Great Gatsby has. The fashion sense of the roaring 20’s has influenced retailers and those counting down the days for the May 10th release. Brooks Brothers and Tiffany & Co created costumes for the films but we have been seeing an astonishing number of customers coming into M&J looking to recreate Daisy Buchanan’s Tiffany & Co headpiece. The ART DECO fashion of the ‘20s was nothing short of amazing and we’re certainly glad it’s back.

In the June 2012 issue of Elle Belgie, model Maja Krag channels a ladylike matador, showing off some incredibly detailed outfits. This “Mrs. Mariachi” editorial is making us go crazy with DIY ideas – we can’t get enough of all of those embellished accents and sequined trims. But that golden bull-head necklace is by far our favorite. And we’re lucky enough to have a steer head buckle in our store so we can replicate it. DIY project, anyone?
