Add spikes, beads, ribbons, buttons, or even appliques…Regardless of what you decide to add to your shoes, they may not be the craziest thing we’ve seen lately. This year we’ve seen shoes like never before. Designers have been transforming entire looks with a mere statement shoe. What kind of shoe DIY will you create?
We’ve been seeing tons of Global Influenced pieces on the runway. Designers such as Dolce & Gabbana and Tory Burch have strayed from their usual esthetics to focus on a more culturally diverse collection. We loved all of the statement making necklaces each designer showcased so much that we opted to create our own global influenced necklace. Enjoy this 10 minute DIY, we sure had fun working on it.
Horn Pipe Bead
Pull both pieces of cord until the bead is perfectly secured.
Continue doing this for each bead creating a pattern between the brown and oxblood Horn Pipe Beads.
Tie a knot at the end of the cord so you’ll be able to slip the necklace over your head.
This DIY necklace is not only easy to make, but matches many outfits. We can’t wait to see your creations!
Roll down your windows, and put away your boots the warm weather has finally arrived! Now that spring has braced us with its presence what better opportunity to fill you in on the latest trends. The bralette top has been a runway favorite this year. Although the trend seems a little risque for everyday use these tops will certainly be a hit at Coachella. Here are some of our favorite runway looks from DKNY, Dolce and Gabbana, Jason Wu, Time Weiland and Balenciaga.
The collections at Fashion Week are always a major source of DIY inspiration, as we love scouting out the upcoming trends and thinking of ways to create them ourselves. This season definitely didn’t disappoint, as there were plenty of over-the-top embellishments, leather accents, and bold accessories. We rounded up a few of our favorite shows and the different ways they’re inspiring us. Which collection did you like the best?
Gucci – We loved the bright necklaces at Gucci, which mixed together flowers, gems, and spikes for an incredible combination. We’d love to recreate one with flowers and gems from our store. The embellished collars were also to die for.
Alexander Wang – This collection was full of sleek leather accents, strategically placed cutouts, and clothing that seemed to float in mid-air. You could easily DIY these looks by adding long leather straps to your favorite pair of shoes, or by cutting apart a t-shirt and adding a transparent panel.
Rodarte – The leather fringe accents are definitely DIYable, but we especially loved the elaborate chain belts. Secure some chains together, add a few brooches, and you’ve got a chic, Rodarte-inspired belt!
Dolce and Gabbana – Like always, Dolce and Gabbana showed an incredibly elaborate, intricate collection. The shoes were detailed with bright braided raffia, and we adored the fun earrings. You could definitely DIY these looks by stitching some bright thread onto a natural bag, or by adding braided cord to a simple pair of wedges.
