1. Take your vinyl braid, and loop it through the buckle. Put the middle piece of the buckle through the vinyl so it is able to move back and forth. Push through the other end of the buckle and sew the end piece to the back.DSC_0179

2. Make sure to measure the collar around your pet to make sure the collar length is not too small or too big. Cut in place. Take the end and fold over and sew in place so the ends do not frill.DSC_0186

DIY Summer Sandals 3 Ways

1

Summer is synonymous with sandals, which is all we’ve been wearing since June 21st! We’ve been seeing a lot of simple sandal styles as well as more elaborate ones, but sometimes those trendy sandals can cost a little more than you bargained for. Here are three of our favorite ways to “step up” your sandal game without breaking your budget.

Chained-Sandals

8mm Beaded Snake Chain, 9mm Black Metal ChainSandals

Glue or sew chain trim to the straps of your sandals for a shining accent! Try to choose a chain that is the same width as your straps!

Cameos on Sandals

Cameos, Sandals

If your sandals have wide straps, we would suggest taking advantage of that space with a row of floral cameos!

Braided and Leather Trimmed Sandals

Black basic sandals are essential, but if you prefer yours with a little more oomph, add a strap of braided leather trim or studded leather trim.

What’s New in December

2

This month we’ve stocked up on some amazing items that are ideal for making a very stylish DIY. This accessory is perfect for pairing with pants because it keeps them in place. It can be made out of many materials, but is most commonly made with leather, and usually has a fixture on the front to make it adjustable. We’re talking about belts! We’re sure that our beautiful new trims and buckles will guarantee that a handmade belt will be on everyone’s holiday wish list!

Tri-Color Trim from M&J Trimming

These tri-colored trims consist of three vinyl braids sewn together. We love the idea of a fun colored belt with a modern buckle.

Embossed Trim from M&J Trimming

These beautiful embossed trims are ideal for an understated belt with a little bit of edge, and this style comes in six colors, from tame neutrals to a vibrant green! Why not pair this trim with this buckle?

Buckles from M&J Trimming

We got a LOT of fantastic buckles in this month, and we think they’re perfect for pairing with our braided trim! We particularly love the 2″ Crescent Buckle with Prong and the Bottle Opener Interlocking Buckle!

So we know what we would make with our latest treasures, but what would YOU make? Would you embellish a pair of boots or a bag? Add the braided trim to an accent pillow? We would love to hear your DIY ideas, or better yet, see them!

Braided Trim & Grosgrain Ribbon in Country Living Magazine

M&J Trimming was featured in the September issue of Country Living magazine.  You can find us on page 22.  Our braided trim and chromspun grosgrain ribbon was used to embellish a decorative pillow.  You can also accessorize your pillows just by adding ribbons and trims.
