Upgrade Your LBD

The little black dress, or LBD as it is affectionately referred to, is a staple in almost every woman’s closet. It’s versatile, classic, and you can wear it over and over again! Sometimes though, your LBD needs a little TLC in the form of an upgrade. Check out these super simple ideas to turn your LBD into a SATULBD, or Super Amazing Totally Unforgettable Little Black Dress.

Flared Dress with Beaded Trim Collar

This dress has a very classic shape, and will look great for any occasion. The flared skirt gives the bottom interest, but what about adding a little something to the top? Glue beaded trim to the collar of the dress for some sparkle. We love the subtlety of black trim, but a contrasting color would look great too!

Cutout Dress with Lace

Remember when cutout dresses were having a total moment last summer, and everyone was walking around with missing sleeves and backs and sides? If you’ve suddenly realized that your cutout dress from last season isn’t going to make the cut this time around, DIY a more modest option! Just sew lace into the inside of the dress where the cutouts are! Your dress will leave more to the imagination, while still looking super flirty!

High Collar Slim Fit Dress with Buttons

This slim-fitting dress is already beautiful, but it’s pretty basic! We think the way to go is buttons. Give the dress a military vibe by putting two rows of small buttons down the front. You can also have a single line of buttons on the back of the dress for an eye-catching feature that is more discrete. As they always say, business in the front, button party in the back.

What does YOUR little black dress look like, and how do you style it to keep it fresh?

This makes me want to go and start cutting up all my black dresses! I do like the idea of adding lace to add spice without showing too much flesh!
