Dia de Los Muertos Inspiration

2

In the United States our Halloween celebrations are usually very dark and intentionally gloomy. However when October 31st swings around in Mexico, the atmosphere is completely different! From October 31st to November 2nd, Mexico is full of bright colors, celebrations, and beautiful sugar skulls in honor of the Dia de Los Muertos!

We weren’t the only ones inspired by this beautiful holiday. Dia de Los Muertos is a well of inspiration for fashion designers too!

These editorial photos for Marie Claire by Enrique Badulescu embody the drama and flair that is often found in Mexican style.

Lena Hoschek’s Spring 2013 collection embrace the bright colors of the holiday, and the aesthetic of the traditional Mexican style. We love the bold colors and prints, and the little punchy details like the black mini-tassels on the pink dress!

Drea Sobieski of blondehaus went a little darker with the style, but still donned an amazing sugar skull mask. And check out that bone ring! We love it. We want it. Immediately.

What aspect of Dia de Los Muertos do YOU find most inspiring: the flower crowns, sugar skulls, bold printed dresses?
