Hair Clip Organizer

July 14, 2008

It’s been a while since my last blog post, but now I’m back with a new project to share with everyone.  I, like many other females enjoy styling my hair.  However, it’s not always as simple as using a comb and some hairspray.  Every now and then I use some accessories such as bobby pins and hair clips.

I use to keep all my hair clips in a basket.  I spend quite a good amount of time searching through the basket just to find the clips I want to use.  All this wasted time spent searching for my cilps in the morning before work inspired me to be a bit more organized.

I took some fabric and covered a foam center board using 3M Super 77 multipurpose spray adhesive.   Remember to iron your fabric before covering the board.

Now is the fun part.  I chose different colors and sizes of some grosgrain ribbon to make a flower.  For example, I take a 3/8″ yellow grosgrain ribbon and laid it on top of a 5/8″ williamsberg blue grosgrain ribbon.  And I cut it at every 2 1/2″ so I that I can create a full circle and stitch the ribbon from one end to the other.  I made a total of four circles.  Then I placed each circle on top of each other to create a star shape.  I stiched the center using thread and also added a button.  After that I just pin down the flower to the board and pin a another grosgrain ribbon underneath so that it’s dangling.

You can decorate your hair clip organizer anyway you want.  The main idea is to have a ribbon that dangles so you can clip your accessosries to it.  Don’t forget to add a ribbon at the top of the board from behind.  This way you can hang it anywhere you like.
